Steel Cut Oats
I have always loved steel cut oats... there is something about the chewiness and the pieces that get stuck, like popcorn kernels, in your teeth all day long.... but in a good way. I wanted to add protein and probiotics to my oats this morning, so I topped them with Nancy's Organic Yogurt. Add fruit and some jam to the mix, DELICIOUS! The best mix of cold and warm for this winter day.
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 C Steel Cut Oats Cooked According to Package -- Generally 2:1 Water:Oats
- 2 TBSP Nancy's Organic Plain Yogurt (Full Fat)
- 1/3 C Blueberries
- 1/3 C Strawberries
- 1/2 Banana, sliced
- 1 TBSP Organic Raspberry Jam
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cook oats according to package instructions. When oats are tender and water has evaporated, move oats to a bowl, top with a few tablespoons of Nancy's and add toppings. For added sweetness, stir in some honey.
WHY IS IT GOOD FOR ME?
- Yogurt - Yogurt is a cultured dairy, which means it contains probiotics. Probiotics balance the friendly bacteria in your gut to aid in digestion.
- Oats - Oats are high in fiber and have been known to help lower bad cholesterol.
